Terrilee Bowden - Owner EZAcres Cattery

EZAcres Cattery is a retired military, family owned and operated Sphynx Cattery. 

Growing up on a farm in Iowa, the love and compassion for animals was ingrained in me at a young age. Watching my family care for and raise animals and then becoming a part of that cycle was a catalyst for my lifelong compassion and dedication to all types of animals and critters. 

We first fell in love with the breed in 2008 upon the arrival of our first two Sphynx kittens Kimosabe who lived to be 13 & Kimora, who is now 17 years old and still a beloved member of our ever growing family, which now includes 2 beautiful grandchildren. 

After raising our (now adult) children while traveling the world (via deployments and permanent stations throughout both of our military careers), my husband and I settled in Alabama in 2015. 

Shortly after, the curiosity, excitement and journey of breeding these beautiful creatures was underway.

Even after being in a family with a Sphynx for many years, breeding was a completely different ballgame! It is a way of life that can be consuming physically and emotionally and will even cancel plans and vacations for you! (Things I was not fully prepared for.) It also required much more knowledge than I had at the time. I can honestly say that without my mentor, I would not have been as successful these past years with my cattery. Her knowledge, compassion and willingness to answer the phone at any time of the day for me was priceless! She gave valuable advice that I will carry with me the rest of my life and I deeply respect & am forever grateful to Jayme for accepting me as a partner and for guiding me to be a better person, breeder and now a mentor myself!

Lastly, I couldn't have done any of this without my general contractor, carpenter, electrician, flight nanny, "cat whisperer", supply runner, best friend, emotional support person and the guy who does everything for me, my husband! Without him, none of this would have been possible. He is my biggest advocate and has truly made my dream of a Cattery/Cat Sanctuary and my Passion for these babies come to life LITERALLY through his hands! He built every room, laid every tile and floor, built EVERY wall, hung every board and fixture and interpreted every vision that I had! 

Let's not forget that he has also given up several nights, weekends, vacation times and most importantly, his bedroom space and countless nights of sleep in support of my Cats/Kittens!
